Description
A River Gorge in watercolour and heightened with bodycolour by William Ellis Barrington-Browne. According to hand written notes on the reverse this is “Beauleigh Gorge” before a dam flooded the area. This a stunning example of Barrington-Browne’s work at its best. He has captured the eddys and currents of the river as it flows around a rocky outcrop which is covered with thick undergrowth and trees. The sky is particularly well painted. The painting is signed by the artist to the bottom left corner. It is mounted, framed and glazed. The frame measures 58 x 45 cm (23″ x 17.5″). The painting itself measures 35 x 25 cm (14″ x 10″).
