A Beautiful small oil painting by renowned and listed British artist, Jeremy King. It depicts a riverside scene at Cotehele, Cornwall, with threatening dark clouds away in the distance. The reeds alongside the river are at the forefront of the picture, which is signed by the artist in the bottom right hand corner. It is Mounted in a box frame and is painted on a box panel so there is structure to the whole thing. The picture is signed to the bottom right hand corner and the artist has also signed the back of the wooden frame. The frame measures 33 x 33 cm (13″ x 13″) with the painting itself measuring 20 x 20 cm (8″ x 8″).
Jeremy King was born in Oundle, Northants in 1933. Was head of art and design at Haymills school in Burnham, Bucks before becoming a full time artist. He painted many scenes in and around the towns and villages up and down The River Thames before moving away to Cornwall with his wife and family in the mid seventies. Many of Jeremy King’s works have been reproduced as prints and he has the distinction of not only having original works on display at The Tate Gallery, but some of his prints are in The Tate’s print collection too!
