An excellent watercolour of a stormy day at sea by Cornish artist Henry Edwin Tozer. The dark cloudy sky looks very threatening as the tumultuous waves crash onto the sandy beach. The rocky outcrops in the sea standing in isolation against the powerful sea. Even the few sea birds are flying for cover. The painting is framed and glazed and measures 56 x 26 cm in its frame. The picture itself measures 52 x 23 cm.
Henry Edwin Tozer British 1838 – 1913. Henry Tozer was born in London but spent the majority of his life in Cornwall. He had two sons, both of whom became artists in their own right. Tozer exhibited one painting at The Royal Academy.
