Description
A watercolour and bodycolour painting by Harry Frier dated 1913 of a mountain stream running down through rocky moorland. The little river tumbles over a small rocky waterfall as birds fly away in the distant skyline, all overlooked by a mountainous backdrop. There is some foxing to the top right hand corner, but this could be addressed. The picture is mounted, framed and glazed. The frame measures 49 x 38 cm and the painting itself measures 37 x 26 cm.
Harry Frier British 1849 – 1921. Frier moved to Somerset in 1883 and quickly became one of the counties foremost artists, documenting life in and around Taunton in some detail. Apparently over 600 of his paintings still survive and in 2017 The Museum of Somerset have held an exhibition dedicated to the work of their local artist, Harry Frier.
