Description
A wonderful oil on canvas by renowned Yorkshire artist Don Micklethwaite of his home town of Scarborough at low tide. This is so typical of the artist’s work with beautifully proportioned buildings, a moody autumnal sky and boats stranded in the mud and low water by their moorings. The painting is framed in a gilt gusso type frame with a canvas inner mount. Frame size is 75 x 65 cm and the actual canvas size is 65 x 55 cm.
Don Micklethwaite was born in 1931 in Scarborough, Yorkshire. Once he turned to art as a career, after years of National Service and work on the railways, he became a member of The Fylingdales Group of artists. His work was quickly recognised and he exhibited at The Royal Society of British Artists, The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Guild of Railway Artists among many others.
