Description
A beautiful watercolour riverside landscape of near Lynmouth in Devon by Arthur Willett. The picture is of a river meandering down from the hills, through beautiful sunny countryside. As the river turns there is a small islet in the middle of the river. A lone walker stands on the far bank looking towards the painter. The painting is framed, glazed and mounted. The frame measures 50 x 36 cm with the painting itself measuring 31 x 16 cm. The artist has titled to the back of the painting under the backboard.
Arthur Willett British 1868 -1951. Willett was a renowned landscape artist who settled in Brighton but his paintings of the British countryside and country pursuits are highly sought after. He exhibited at least 7 times at The Royal Academy.
