Large watercolour of a shepherdess herding her flock of sheep up hill through a wooded pathway. Beautifully detailed skies and to the trees, ivy and grass, making this a gorgeous looking picture by Henry John Livens. It is signed with the artists typically decorative flourish to the bottom left corner. It is framed, mounted and glazed. The frame measures 77 x 61 cm with the painting measuring 51 x 35 cm inside the frame.
Henry John Livens British 1848 – 1943. Livens was born into an artistic family being a direct descendant of the famous Dutch artist Jan Liebens, who left Holland to paint the King sometime in the 1600’s.
