Description
This huge painting is an oil on canvas by Spanish artist Jose Pedrajas of a Turkish or Moorish market scene with two young children or urchins either selling or begging to a group of four ladies with many other women in the market behind them. It is a very atmospheric piece. Painted in light pastel colours and is signed in the bottom right hand corner with the date of ’91. It is in a gilded, floral frame which measures 130 x 103 cm with the painting itself measuring in at 116 x 90 cm.
Jose Pedrajas Spanish born 1943 in Cordoba. Studied art, ceramics and photography at The School of Arts and Crafts in Algeciras. Later went on to achieve a Bachelors degree in Fine Art painting. Set up numerous art teaching centres around Spain and was a founding member of The Watercolour Society of Cuela. Has exhibited in many destinations around the tourist areas of Spain and features in collections around the world.
