Description
A large modernist oil painting of a harlequin clown holding a guitar by French artist Bernard Lignon. It is signed “Lignon” to the bottom right hand corner. This painting was allegedly once owned by the comedian and TV personality Bob Monkhouse. Although this is an oil on canvas it has been very professionally mounted behind glass and is framed with a large limed oak style frame, which measures 107 x 73 cm, with the visible part of the painting itself measuring 97 x 63 cm.
Bernard Lignon listed French artist born in 1921. Exhibited throughout France, UK and USA. Sold many of his works to Film and TV stars of the 1950’s and 1960’s.
