Description
This former theatrical display is a stunning montage that was produced in honour of the life of Sir Norman Wisdom, the great comedy actor who died in 2016. The montage has a fantastic range of black and white photographs of Norman in three of his famous film roles and two of him and his wife. Centrally, near the bottom of the montage is a first day cover dated 1st January 2000 and is signed by the maestro himself. Norman Wisdom was made a knight in the New Years Honours list of that year. After the day he was knighted Norman always signed his name as “Sir Norman Wisdom” but this first day cover was signed as plain “Norman Wisdom” as he had not yet been knighted.
It is framed in a gilded hardwood surround and the mounting of all the pictures is incredibly well done. The frame measures 113 x 83 cm and it is extremely heavy.
